Elmy, 18, is in his second season playing centre for the storied Toronto franchise.

The Mississauga resident has 55 points (30 goals/25 assists) in 40 games – 34 points more than during his entire rookie season already. He’s projected to finish the year with 77 points by eliteprospects.com.

“Congratulations to Dave on his commitment,” Buzzers Head Coach and General Manager Rich Ricci told the OJHL. “He has worked hard this year to become an elite player. Largely under the radar, Dave has become a dangerous scorer who plays a heavy game.

“He possesses a quick accurate release and can score several different ways. Dave has become a well-rounded player as seen by his proficiency in the DZone and on the penalty kill. We think he has more upside and leadership moving forward.”

Elmy represented the Buzzers at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge in Trenton during November.

“My experience playing in the OJHL has been excellent and a great challenge,” Elmy told OJHL Communications Director Jim Mason. “It has helped me to better prepare for the next level. It also has enhanced my understanding of the game and my overall skill set.”

“St. Michael’s has been a great fit for me. Being able to experience and play at the junior level has been a key role to my game. Being coached by Rich Ricci and Vic Criscuolo has helped me develop tremendously; having the opportunity to be coached by two people who have been around this league for many years is a great privilege and opportunity to learn from their experience.”

He’s looking forward to college life.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to play at Canisius,” Elmy said. “It’s a great environment and it will provide me with a great education and also being able to continue to take the next step and better my hockey skills and knowledge.”

Elmy joins current OJHLers Trevor Hoskin (Cobourg) and Ben Bonisteel (Trenton) in committing to Canisius.

OJHL grads on the Canisius roster this season include: Alton McDermott and Jack Lyons (Oakville), Oliver Tarr (Haliburton County, Whitby), Ethan Robertson (Cobourg), Erik Urbank (Buffalo) and Hudson Lambert (Brampton, Orangeville).

Head coach Trevor Large played at Brampton of the OJHL.

The Buzzers next see action Friday at home to the Aurora Tigers.

Congratulations to David and best of luck in the OJHL and NCAA!
